I found your blog while trying to get the scoop on Dhamma Kuta in Kandy. I LOVE your story and can definitely relate to the woes of a first vipassana course. I did my first one in South Africa. I also did a second one in Northern India, and am debating doing a 3rd in Sri Lanka with my mom in the next few weeks. My experience at the center I went to in India was..challenging in terms of accommodation. The beds were pretty much sacks stuffed with plywood, the bathrooms smelled really bad and there were leaches and slugs everywhere, one of which made his home on my ancle (I found it while geting ready for bed flicked it off in a panic, lost it somewhere in the room and had to meditate myself to sleep... because I was freaking out!). If possible, I'd like to know more about the accommodation, bathrooms etc. and if it was a comfortable living situation? I'm extra cautions because I don't want my moms first course to be like the course I took in India. Granted, it was the middle of monsoon season, but, from an experiential standpoint, I'm still traumatized lol. Hope you can be of help and look forward to hearing from you!
looks like a very comfortable and cozy bed. ha.
